MANUFACTURING TOUR - GRAPHIC DIGITAL OPERATIONS back

Graphic Digital manufactures all of our products. Shopping for each ingredient that goes into our product, paying meticulous attention to quality and consistency, Graphic Digital is geared to be a top supplier of digital inks to the retail and commerical printers. Our manufacturing operation in Milwaulkie, Oregon is capable of producing 220 gallons of high quality digital ink per day. The in-house laboratory is utilized for QC of the production batches as well as ongoing research and development into the every expanding markets of digital printing.

Full inventory of all our product lines. From these bulk 5 gallon pails, they are dispensed into smaller containers to the customers order.

Each of our products is thoroughly tested and QC'd in our laboratories. Here these batches of ink are awaiting a battery of tests.

Each batch of ink is screened thru a 0.2 micron filter to remove oversize particles ensuring consistent color development and clog free running.

Our inks are age tested for stability. The chemistry and processes used by Graphic Digital ensure the longest lasting, most stable products on the market today.

The processing of the pigment and colorants used in our inks is very critical to the performance and stability of our product. Above is one of our state-of-the-art mills used to grind the colorant down to sub-micron size.

Other milling equipment is utilized to ensure maximum efficiency of our production equipment. Testing of new products is conducted on these lab mills. Graphic Digital is continually looking at new products that become available in the word wide digital markets.

Our labs are equipped to analyze all the properties of digital ink. It is true that one ink does not work for ALL printers.

The particle size of our colorant is checked and recorded. The particle size analyzer pictured above measures the particle size of our colorant by laser, measuring the light scattering and returning a "particle size distribution chart" that profiles the size "in microns" of our colorants. Every batch of ink we manufacture get's tested in this manner.

Color value - Graphic Digital quantifies the color value of our products to ensure maximum color gamut and color consistency. Pictured above is a spectrophotometer that is used to measure each color.

The spectrophotometer returns a value that is compared to the established standard. This attention to detail ensures our products are consistent in color value, batch-to-batch, year-to-year.

If a product in production is found to be off color, it is sent back to be corrected. Every product has a batch number. Every container of ink we send out the door has the batch number written on the label. We are able to track a product back to the individual ingredients, so if there ever was a problem, we could correct it at the source.
